Our farm office is based in the coastal town of Ullapool, we are very much invested in our local community. Most of the team live here, with children in school and we support the pupils of Ullapool High school with The Wester Ross Salmon Education Fund. Generations of family members have worked our waters and Wester Ross is the largest employer in the town.
Our commitment to community drives our business choices and we always buy local whenever we can. As well as supporting our schools; with funding and practical educational initiatives, we also have an open-door policy for residents. We value our community, we are proud of our heritage and we cherish the landscape that enables what we do. But we live in rapidly changing times and it’s more important than ever to keep giving back. One of the ways we do that is by supporting the Highland Wildlife Park polar bears who are part of the European Endangered Species Programme. Hamish, pictured below at the Park, was the first cub to be born in the UK in 25 years. It is a rare privilege to be involved in supporting this conservation work.
Wester Ross, in the northwest Scottish Highlands is wild, rugged and remote. Stunningly beautiful with crystal clear water and endless skies, it remains largely untamed, and is a sparsely populated haven for walkers, nature seekers, and water sports enthusiasts. But it’s not just all about the view and sporting activities. The landscape inspires creativity, and the Highlands are awash with artisan producers of food, drink and hand crafted goods. Galleries, eateries, distilleries and the like can be found around most corners. It’s an area with a sense of place and a spirit of its own.
Ullapool embodies Highland life and team spirit is enhanced by the availability of modern, shared staff accommodation in this harbour town. With an abundance of shops, pubs, and restaurants there is everything at hand for comfortable living; with the added bonus that water sports and other activities are on the doorstep.
